Stephen Shaffer, PT
Physiotherapist

Stephen began clinical practice in 2003. He graduated with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy (MSPT) from Nazareth College (New York) and later went on to complete residency, fellowship, and academic doctoral training in Advanced Orthopaedics. In addition to clinical practice, Stephen is a researcher with experience on topics related to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), advanced practice physiotherapy rights, physiotherapy research integrity, pain science education in physiotherapy training programs, and legislation governing physiotherapy practice.
He also has experience teaching both professional and post-professional courses on a wide array of physiotherapy topics and is currently an Adjunct Professor in the post-professional Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program at Hartford University in Connecticut. Stephen is a credentialed Fellow (FCAMPT) through the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. These credentials are the highest attainable clinical certifications in orthopaedic physiotherapy. In his free time, Stephen serves as a peer reviewer for multiple scientific journals. While proud of all of his professional accomplishments, the thing that truly drives Stephen is helping people get better. This deep-seated passion stems from a lifelong process of helping his brother, who has cerebral palsy, traverse this world in the best way possible. As a result of being a caregiver early in his life, Stephen learned the value of helping others. That theme carried forward well into the physiotherapy profession.
